E-Commerce distributed on multiple channels: shops, marketplaces and dropshipping

A distributed eCommerce project allows you to sell your product catalog on multiple online sales channels: (1) eCommerce sites, (2) Marketplace and (3) networks of other online sellers.

The products in question may be owned directly by the online seller, or be stored in partner companies' warehouses, which will ship directly to end customers, on behalf of the online seller ( dropshipping ).

(1) A little more eCommerce sites

Through its own e-commerce site, the seller can expose the product catalog to potential customers, and conclude the sale with some of them.

The ways to attract potential buyers and lead them to purchase and re-purchase are various; these topics are addressed by the disciplines of web marketing (SEO Search Engine Optimization, or optimization of the site for search engines, and SEM - Search Engine Marketing, or marketing for search engines) and CRM techniques (Customer Relationship Management, or care of the relationship with the customer).

One of the ways to promote search engine optimization and target potential customers (on whom they can therefore carry out specific marketing actions) is to divide their catalog into homogeneous sections and publish eCommerce sites dedicated to particular categories of products or even specific products, leveraging on the possible ways that buyers will use to search for our products.

For example, let's observe the differentiation strategy of 101 VETRINE, which has created a network of eCommerce sites, partly non-specialized, but intended to promote important part of the catalog (see the sites www.centounovetrine.com and www.vetrinaok.it), and on the other hand with specialization based on the brand or type of products (eg www.emotiko.com , www.fedine-emotiko.com , www.gioielli-acciaio.com ). Experience teaches us that with more eCommerce sites there are more sales opportunities!

(2) Sale on marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon and Spartoo

The listing on the most popular marketplaces ( eBay and Amazon to mention the generalist ones, Spartoo if we refer instead to the fashion and footwear market ) allows you to get in touch with a large number of potential customers without having to manage marketing activities, as the managers of the marketplaces themselves will worry about the promotion, given the fact that most of their proceeds (or our costs, to say it looking at the other side of the coin) derives from commissions on the final value of sales.

For professional sellers there are in fact monthly subscription fees (39 € / month for eBay and Amazon, at the time of writing this article) which allow you to publish unlimited advertisements in 5 European markets, plus a commission on the final value on the value of sales which varies between 5 and 15%

(3) Exploitation of a network of online sellers (dropshipping as a supplier)

Another interesting commercial opportunity is to offer the possibility to sell your catalog and stock to other online sellers, who will use their tools to manage the promotion of our products. Our role will become that of dropshipping goods supplier (we will ship the goods to the customers of our "drop", not wholesale) resellers.

The synchronization of the catalog: products, warehouse stocks, images, etc.

In order to manage such a complex commercial network, a tool capable of managing the dialogue between the various IT systems is needed, which coordinates the automatic transfer of products, images, warehouse stocks, images , etc.

it's not relevant the name of the platform: VirtueMart, PrestaShop, Magento, OSCommerce, OpenCart, poco deve importare, and also the management software: QuickBooks, SAP, Giobby, SAP, Danea, Zucchetti AdHoc Revolution, ESA Software, ecc..

This is the role of bindCommerce!
