The alternative descriptions consist of additional, and more complex, versions of the original data transmitted to bindCommerce by the integrated platforms. These alternatives allow you to manage language variants, stylistic variants or other descriptive variants useful to allow the publication of the listings on different markets, or to enrich them with further information by concatenating different fields present within bindCommerce (for example attributes, field notes, categories, price lists, etc. ..).

The alternative descriptions are available for each item from the menu

Catalog >> Products

in the last column of the table, called "Alternatives", which contains for each article all the alternative descriptions created (if any).

Before generating alternative descriptions it is always necessary to define an alternative within which all imported or generated descriptions will be saved.

The alternative will be the "container", which will contain all the alternative descriptions created by a specific process and / or intended for a particular use.

To create an alternative go to the menu

Catalog >> Alternatives

click on Add at the top left and fill in the required fields:

• Name
• Language
• Notes

Finally click on SAVE AND CLOSE to save the alternative created.

How to create or insert alternatives

After creating the alternative, it will be possible to generate or import the relative alternative descriptions. The processes that allow you to create alternative descriptions are different:

• Manually, through the bindCommerce interface, adding the alternative to the individual product
• By importing from an integrated platform
• By importing from a file
• Creating them by means of the special connector, either through a preset template or simply using the editor
• By creating them using the special Google Translate connector, which manages automatic translation starting from the main description

How to use the alternatives created

Alternatives can be used for:

• populate the language variant of an eCommerce site
• populate the main language of a new store
• create descriptions for eBay listings using a special template
• create other alternatives (for example using the alternative descriptions in language to generate other descriptions intended for a marketplace on a foreign market or a multilingual eCommerce)
• enrich the basic descriptions by concatenating additional data such as attributes, price lists, notes field, images

in the last column of the table, called "Alternatives", which contains for each article all the alternative descriptions created (if any).

By clicking on the modify button it will be possible to check the alternative description fields, and modify them if they have been created manually:

• Title
• Subtitle
• Short description
• Description
• Notes
• Free fields
• Metatag
• Pictures on the web server
